Welcome

Welcome, this site will be devoted to providing information about the ongoing maintenance issues that take place at The Creek Club . As this site is developed, content will be added that demonstrates things that range from course care to comprehensive details about agronomic procedures. I hope that this will become a useful tool in communicating things that are taking place on the golf course. I will try to use the blog to explain how and why we do some of the things we do on the golf course.

Frost Delays!

We are reaching that time of year when frost and freeze delays determine the first tee time on the golf course. Please be advised that there may be frost delays any time the temperature falls to the upper 30’s or below.   We will continue updating the golf shop and the member’s web page regarding the start time. Opening the course for play too early will negatively impact the health of the greens. We use hourly temperatures, past experiences and a little guess work regarding the length of the delay.  How fast the frost melts depends on air temperatures, soil temperatures and direct sunlight.

If the golf course experiences a frost delay, please keep in mind the following: Enough time is needed for the golf course maintenance staff to perform the daily jobs like mowing greens, setting up the hole locations, and raking bunkers, and having enough head start to stay ahead of the first tee time is crucial.

Example of sunlight vs shade having an effect on frost melting quickly!
