Welcome

Welcome, this site will be devoted to providing information about the ongoing maintenance issues that take place at The Creek Club . As this site is developed, content will be added that demonstrates things that range from course care to comprehensive details about agronomic procedures. I hope that this will become a useful tool in communicating things that are taking place on the golf course. I will try to use the blog to explain how and why we do some of the things we do on the golf course.

Greens Update 5 Days after Aerification

Pictures were taken today 5 days after core Aerification with 3/8 tine. We rolled Greens every morning to allow the bentgrass to grow all the way through the topdressing.  Today was the first mowing in 5 days since aerification and topdressing. The Greens were mowed at .150.

Greens Aerification Sept 4, 2013

September 4th Aerification Is completed!  This is my favorite aerification we do because it signals the end of the 100 days battle of managing bentgrass in Georgia.

The summer of 2013 has been successful one due to the management practices for preventative maintenance and the role it plays to provide high quality playing conditions and optimal growing conditions.

Preventative maintenance is an integral part of successful golf course management. Aeration is an extremely important maintenance practice.  Although it results in a temporary disruption of the green, aeration improves water penetration into the soil, reduces soil compaction, stimulates turf grass root growth for a healthier plant, helps control thatch build-up, and improves overall growing conditions.
